Olga Pushkina – a third-class railway transport technician and future best-selling author – works as a lineman in a booth by the tracks, and only Dmitry the hedgehog keeps her company. Looking at the passing Trans-Siberian Express, Olga dreams of studying literature at the University of Tomsk, known as the Oxford of West Siberia, and of escaping the sleepy, snow-covered village of Rozłaznyj.
