The second omnibus from the collection of works by the legendary Strugacki brothers is a real treat for fans, but also for new readers.
The novels Overturned World, The Beetle in an Anthill and The Waves Suppress the Wind make up a quasi-trilogy, which is loosely combined by the figure of Maks Kammerer, an astronaut, explorer, rebel, and investigator. In these various roles, Kammerer conducts an unequal struggle – in the Inverted World with a soulless regime manipulating society on another planet with the help of technology, in Żuk in an anthill with an undefined threat to humanity from a mysterious fugitive – Abalkin’s scout, and in Waves … he supports the young investigator Tojwo Glumova in unmasking a mysterious terrorist group.
Kammerer’s long-term struggle becomes a pretext for the surprisingly up-to-date reflections on the fate of the individual in the totalitarian system, on the mechanisms governing the formation of elites and pseudo-elites, and on the everlasting fear of war and terror that leads society to give up freedom. In 2008, a film directed by Fyodor Bondarchuk was made based on the novel The Inverted World .
The fourth novel in the omnibus, or Niepokój , is the original version of The Snail on the Slope , published only in 1990, and appears for the first time in Polish translation. The Strugacki themselves returned to the first variant 25 years after its inception and decided that it was an independent story beyond the context of the universe of the South World .
The volume contains four songs:

Arkadij Natanowicz Strugacki (born August 28, 1925 in Batumi, died October 12, 1991 in Moscow) and Boris Natanowicz Strugacki (born April 15, 1933 in Leningrad, died November 19, 2012 in St. Petersburg) – Russian SF writers, brothers, co-authors and fantasy critics . They are included in the world classics – their works in many respects stood out from the literature of the 20th century. They were also an inspiration for filmmakers, incl. Andrei Tarkowski ( Stalker ) or Alexander Sokurov ( Days of the eclipse ).
