How to diversify the evening reading of a book to a child? Choose an item that not only has text, but also a whole host of sound effects and beautiful illustrations. The new series from the HarperKids publishing house is a great publication that provides the youngest with a lot of emotions.
I will not hide, I am simply delighted with the books from the Sound Tale series, which have just appeared on our market. The combination of famous stories such as Little Red Riding Hood or The Three Little Pigs with a whole range of recorded sounds and melodies meant that even as an adult reader, I had a lot of fun reading these fairy tales already known to me. I will not lie to say that it allowed me to rediscover them and introduce them to my own child with greater enthusiasm.
You read, click, listen and have a great time
Each of the books is a little less than thirty pages long and contains a shortened version of a well-known fairy tale (at the moment they have been released: Little Red Riding Hood , Puss in Boots , Aladdin , The Jungle Book and The Three Little Pigs). There is not much to read in these positions, so the youngest children will be able to stick to the end of each page. As befits a publication for children, the story’s plots are of course enriched with beautiful illustrations of various artists (eg Aurelie Guillerey, Ronan Badel, Olivier Tallec). Despite the scenes like a wolf eating grandma or attacking pig’s houses, the books do not have scary graphics at all, and everything is presented lightly and colorfully. Of course, the main attraction are the sound effects created by Felix Le Bars. Each right-hand page of the book has at least one button that, when pressed, plays back the recording with the text. This is how you can listen to Little Red Riding Hood’s mum cheerfully humming during the fragment about the girl’s family, building a house of pig bricks, when we read, that the last brother had chosen a stronger structure, or even the sound of a genie lamp after Aladdin rubbed it. At the end of the stories, it is possible to select and turn on each of the recordings, because there is the entire mechanism responsible for the emission of sounds. In order not to waste the battery (or to calm a child who wants to constantly press the buttons in the book), on the back of the cover there is a battery compartment (which can be replaced if it becomes exhausted) and a magic button – turning off sounds. I respect this facility very much, as each parent has a certain amount of patience for the repeating noises coming from children’s toys. because the whole mechanism responsible for the emission of sounds is located there. The question remains: will there be more?
As I mentioned at the beginning, I am infatuated and can only recommend it further. I really like that the books are illustrated by different artists and that there is not much text in them. These items affect children not only through the content they read, but also the possibility of active participation in it thanks to pressing buttons with recordings attached. Music or noises (e.g. smacking, blowing, singing) make the whole thing more attractive and give the fairy tales the character of a radio play. A great idea, good quality of realization and a lot of pleasure in communing with these books mean that I can only praise and recommend them.
