The series In the shade of trees has surprised us several times, each time positively: here and here . The latest story from the world of Dav shows the relationship between father and son. An adult boar with great commitment takes care of a piglet in a diaper. In addition, it is their first spring and together they collect flowers for the child’s mother. Unfortunately, in the meantime, it turns out that the piglet has hay fever, which effectively makes it impossible to compose a bouquet for the mother. The reader, observing the vicissitudes of the family and the involvement of the father, asks himself a question about the hero’s determination. The finale will surprise you and may even shed a few tears. Such a short comic contains all the most important truths governing the lives of anthropomorphized animals (and not only).
A masterpiece on the comic scene
The First Spring is undoubtedly the most successful comic in the series. An uncomplicated story is the basis on which the author builds the details of the story and reveals the original idea to the audience. The idea is given in an accessible way despite the difficult subject matter. The reviewed comic is slightly different from its predecessors. The previous parts – The Fall of Mr. Grumpy , Gust of Winter and Such an Owl Summer told interesting stories, but certainly not as touching. Comparing them, we can notice a change in the author’s style – both in terms of focusing on details and the overtones of the story. He has made remarkable progress and has probably gained a steady readership. First Spring artworkit impresses as much as the previous installments of the series. This comic can not only be read, but also watched, which is a lot of fun.
Restrain your emotions
The volume under review is the last in the series. In four short books, the adventures of several heroes are closed – each of them showed us a slightly different reality, surrendered to changes, fought for his happiness. However, we, the readers, can count on Dave’s comic book adventure not being over and that he will create many more comic books in the future. In the meantime, let’s remember the In the shade of trees series as the one that added charm to our lives in an uncomplicated way, and perhaps encouraged our pupils to learn to read, joined the audience of comic books or simply showed what really matters in life.
