15th anniversary of the franchise
Yes, it’s been a decade and a half since the characters from Marvel moved to the screen, creating one common story that won the hearts of fans around the world. It all started in 2008 with Iron Man , whose title role was played by the reliable Robert Downey Jr., to return to the same role a few months later in The Incredible Hulk. By 2023, we had a lot of successful titles, including 30 movies and 9 series. There were also failures and strong criticism, but the MCU maintains a relatively good level of scripts and a family character, providing entertainment for the whole family.

Blip – we remember (*)
MCU space-time has been close to ours since its inception. We were dealing with practically the same locations as in the real world and even the chronology matched our world. When World War II took place in the years 1939-1945, this conflict also continued in the Marvel Universe, the consequence of which was the birth of the first Avenger – Captain America. The Winter Soldiers project was frozen with the collapse of the Soviet Union in 1991, which is exactly when it happened in our country. Moreover, when Carol Danvers uses the Internet in 1995, she is running the Windows 95 operating system, which is exactly what was available in our history, exactly in the same year.
We could find some more of these flavors in contemporary films based on the comics of the House of Ideas. However, our paths with MCU reality parted a bit in 2018 when Thanos snapped the Infinity Gauntlet and half the population disappeared. In 2019, we moved forward four years and, thanks to playing with the quantum world and the determination of all living superheroes, in October 2023, we managed to reverse the massacre caused by the Infinity Gauntlet. Where there is a will, there is a way!
Oddly enough, after the release of Avengers: Endgame , hard times came for us: pandemic, lockdowns, massive Russian invasion of Ukraine. Maybe it was the same in the Marvel universe and the chaos caused by Thanos provoked a pandemic and war in Europe. If so, maybe 2023 will also be kind to us and the three-year period full of anxiety will finally end.
Still from Captain America: Civil War (2016)
Quantomania, or what?
The concept of history and time has always been linked to two of my favorite characters – Captain America and Ant-Man. The former was something of a historian who analyzed the problem through the experience of past time, while the latter played with time in practical terms like a quantum physicist. The film’s assumptions that time travel is possible in quantum space are quite plausible, as the shrinking reality gives us an infinite path in the so-called wormhole, thus achieving hyperspeed through rapid movement, allowing us to move from one moment to another.
Together, Scott and Rogers could really do a lot for the world, but their cooperation was limited only to rioting at a German airport or defeating Thanos and bringing back the “missing” people after the Mad Titan snapped in 2023.
Ant-Man will return to the screens this year, and if you believe the creators of the new film about the Guardian of Liberty fan, Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantomania will be a groundbreaking spectacle, significant for the continuity of the universe, as it was in the solo films with Steve Rogers or the Avengers. I am also waiting to get to know the other, dark face of the ant family and the unexplored quantum world, which must have cost a lot of money to make it in CGI. Playing with time can be useful, as we learned in Endgamebut also dangerous, which Kang the Conqueror, who destroys history, will surely convince us. Because a world without history will take us back to primitive communities, which are societies without historical thinking, and thus will destroy everything we have and love. All hope in Scott. Or will we see more of what happened during the five-year gap between Snap and Blip? We’ll find out in less than a month!
