The beginning of an era
But from the beginning – the premiere of the Philosopher’s Stone , based on the book of the same title, written by JK Rowling, took place on November 4, 2001. lightning bolt went to Daniel Radcliffe (Harry Potter), Emma Watson (Hermione Granger) and Rupert Grint (Ron Weasley). The story of the young wizard is still a huge part of pop culture.
The film shows the very beginning of Harry’s story. We get to know him as a neglected, lonely boy who, learning the reason for the accompanying feeling of being different, finds his place in the world. However, even for a wizard, he is quite unique – he is the only one in history to survive the meeting with the formidable Dark Lord, after which only the famous scar is left for him. As Harry learns the secrets of the wizarding world, he quickly learns that Lord Voldemort’s disappearance is not as certain as it might seem.
20 years of movie magic
To celebrate the film’s premiere anniversary, Wizarding World has prepared a special, double-disc DVD. The first one features a classic version of the film in various language versions and additional content with approximate figures of the actors. The second one, however, is completely different! As an avid fan of Harry Potter, I can confidently say that this edition made quite a big impression on me.
By recreating the special version, we also start the Philosopher’s Stone screening . However, it is interrupted by the director’s comments on important scenes and how to create them, as well as on-screen curiosities referring to characters, creatures and objects, especially useful for those who have not read Harry Potter books. An additional advantage is also the portkey appearing on the screen, taking the viewer to the originally deleted scenes, the lack of which can be significantly felt in the original version. The transition to additional content is smooth and does not disturb the reception of the movie.
Your own home cup tournament
In my opinion, the best element of the special edition is the “tournament” that lasts during the screening. In addition to interesting facts, there are also questions about the famous magical universe. You can get additional points for noticing the golden snitch hiding in a shot it shouldn’t have been in originally. After all, no one likes to brag about their knowledge more than Harry Potter fans .
This edition, although created for the perfect entertainment for the whole family, in my opinion will be better for older viewers who speak English to a lesser extent, because it is the only available language version on the second album. Of course, you can choose Polish subtitles in the settings, but the need to read quickly will still be problematic for children, especially considering that the subtitles are quite unintuitive.

Back to the world of magic
Although 20 years have passed since the premiere of the first part, I cannot imagine a year without at least one marathon of all films and I have the impression that I discover something new every time. The edition of 20 years of film magic gives a broader view of the process of creating the universe and explains many of the issues raised in the book, but omitted from the original version of the film, while actively involving the viewer in the screening. Perfect as an additional attraction at a meeting with friends who are no strangers to the world of magic!
